Welcome to my Lake2Lake Fundraising Page
I’m participating in the Lake2Lake Ride, Walk or Run for Rwanda as a fun and active way to engage in the work of The Wellspring Foundation for Education.
My plan is to cover 100km combined; starting with a 1km swim at Valens Lake, then running16km before paddleboarding down Spencer Creek to Christie Lake, and then cycling, and who knows what else in what promises to be an epic and exhausting day. My social media will provide updates and heckling opportunities all day (maybe all night too if things go slowly).
Since Wellspring started in 2004, their work has grown to impact over 195,000 Rwandan children, as well as their teachers, leaders, parents, and wider communities. By equipping all members of the educational ecosystem with the tools to create vibrant and engaging learning environments, these children are having the opportunity to receive a quality education that will change their lives and futures. And we get to be part of this!
Let's help Wellspring provide thousands of Rwandan children with a quality education! Would you consider supporting me and helping me reach my goal? Every dollar raised makes a difference.
My Personal Web Log
In Greek mythology "hubris" is the idea of someone overestimating their importance and ability in a way that leads to struggle and shame. Here's hoping that's not what I've signed up for here.
Based on my current fitness attempting to cover 100km across several activities in one day a few months from now is at best ambitious; likely at least a little foolish.
But even more ambitious is the idea of raising $5000 in donations to Wellspring Foundation by doing all of that.
The thing is, Wellspring does amazing work with the education system in Rwanda. Here's a small organization that in just 16 years has become a major influence not only in tiny remote village schools that may lack clean water or electricity, but also at the highest levels of the government and international charity sectors. The impact really is remarkable.
My efforts on the roads, lakes, and trails for one day aren't really a big deal. I kinda like physical challenges that push me out of my comfort zone.
The truly ambitious goal here is to help Wellspring impact the lives of 2 million children and their families in Rwanda and beyond by 2024.
I hope you'll join me in that goal, whether its with a generous donation or by coming alongside my adventure in September for a few kilometres.
More details to come!
